People who live in and around Queensland’s capital will tell you it’s a magnificent place to live. With so many world class sports, entertainment and cultural facilities — not to mention the climate! — the city shines as one of Australia’s best places to buy a home.

The region is a great place to bring up a family, with easy access to excellent schools, universities, libraries, TAFE colleges and other educational institutions. It’s no wonder Brisbane suburbs are ranked as being some of the most desirable in which to live in the whole country with many affordable house and land packages available.

Indeed, an article in the Australian Financial Review last month showed that Brisbane and Adelaide are set to take over from Sydney and Melbourne as the nation’s premier real estate hotspots. The piece showed Holland Park, Greenslopes, Everton Park and Stafford in the top ten hottest postcodes for investors with Holland Park, Greenslopes and Everton Park rated as the top three in the nation.

Together with changes to the Great Start Grant — now known as the First Homeowners’ Grant — there has never been a better time for people looking to buy their first home in the Sunshine State. The state government has recognised the need to support first home buyers and has recently announced a rise in the grant from $15,000 to $20,000 for one year for properties worth up to $750,000.
